HOUSE HUNTING!
Yes! its open season for all houses! har har! today is gonna be the day where i can finally see some places to stay..yeah baby! I reached ISS early, 10:40am is my appointment time. But i'm hyped up, haha..i think. Or it could be the typical kaisu Singaporean within me.haha
Met up with Bryan from ISS and he is gonna drive me to the houses i had choosen yesterday.
He really nice fellow, we got along really well. Talked about a ton of stuff, things in s'pore like food, the shopping centres. He asked about marina square, cause he has not went back to s'pore in quite awhile. And of coz, as any typical s'porean male we talked about army life. haa..it's really unavoidable mate!
Bryan has his own car! A really smashing looking red Hyundai. Cool, he said it costs $8000 and his room mate is sharing it with him. Hmm..maybe i will consider one in the future, i will see how it goes. Anyway back to the houses. The 1st house is a Queenslander @ herston road. Its a lovely place, the entire structure is made out of timber. With a galvanised iron roof, an open verandah, and tall stumps raising the building high enough to be walked under. Pretty cool. =)
The whole place is furnished, there's everything from the white goods which is the fridge, microwave, washing machine, dryer ect ect.
Cally, the owner is a very nice and homely lady. She is very flexible about the lease too. Cause the norm is 6 months but she said that if i wanted to stay for 5 months. It's fine with her. Lovely. The room she showed me is really cozy. Large bed, queen size. A great looking wardrobe and a nice study desk. And there is wireless broadband connection too! The great thing about this place, is that all these utilities are in the rent. That means the water and electricity! Plus its really really near to my campus, at around 10mins walk. And its all at @ $152 per week! Its availiable the next day! So if i wanna move in tommorrow, its not a problem.
I felt it was quite a good deal, and i really liked the place. I was really tempted to get it! But i had to control myself. Coz i know that maybe the other 2 places could be good too. So off i go.
The next place is @ Bramston which is further down. Now the owner is a lady, from hong kong named Margeret. Woah, she is stiff sia. Reminds me of nazis, really! haha..
Well maybe she's very conservative, prim and proper. hmmm..the place is furnished too. but its not really nice. And the rooms are quite small, overmore most of the place is like still under renovation. And if i want it, i can only move in like on the 2o something of feb, which is wayyy too late. $120 per week, plus $5 if u want internet access. And for phone calls, there is no phone. i asked her, what if i need to call home. And she just pointed to a payphone on the road. Right! Nope can't do, thank you for your time. Next!
The last place is at Dunsmore Street, the furthest of all three. Kirby the lady meeting us, looks like an agent to me. Young, pretty, small size. haha..right..
The house is really new, smells of new paint and stuff. Everything seems brand new. Hmm..no internet access, if i want one i have to get an account myself. Sigh, other then that it looks pretty ok. But in size wise for the rooms, it loses to the 1st house. The biggest room is $130 so if i get internet access. It will be like woah..$180 liddat maybe more..haiz..nope can't do.
So the winner is THE FIRST HOUSE!!! yay..even Bryan thinks that the 1st one is a pretty good deal. Yep ! So Bryan and me head back to Garden Points. And i called Cally ASAP and told her i wanted a room. Yeah! Finally i have got a place of my own. Whoo hooo!. Thanks Bryan for all your help and advice. Can't have done it without you mate! =)
Hmmm...after that i left ISS and wandered about town again. These past few days i saw places like target, big W and woolworths. So i decided to check it out. heh
Went to Target 1st, and man, it's a department store like OG. Yeah..the stuff there is pretty cheap. And i saw a belt that i fancy. It costs $17.90, cool..it's within my budget. So i decide to get it. To my suprised, when i was about to pay. After cashier scan e belt, it displayed $5 something.
Woah..okay dun ask too much, just pay! haha, shiok.
Went to Big W next, just above me is like carrefour's 2nd level @ suntec city. Sells alot of electronic stuff, crockery and various household items. Alrite, at this point i experienced my 1st racial discrimination encounter, i think. Coz i was looking at this coffee strainer along the aisle. And there this 2 ladies who wanted to pass thru. One of them said "execuse me" rather loudly. I stepped away and said sorry. And when they passed, the other woman asked her friend "so how did u say excuse me?" and her friend replied with an loud "EXECUSE ME" in a rather sarcastic tone. And they both laughed.
Rite...at that time i realized that the aisle was quite wide. The both of them can just pass through and i need not move at all! Haiz..why this man...so sad..just to prove that they are superior in such an ugly fashion.
Never mind that coz i'm hungry! Had guyudon (japanese beef rice) for lunch. Yum. For $5 ....yay again within my budget. haha..i'm like a budget freak now.
haha.. as usual folks i will display a picture. This is the sink from my room at the motel. It's ultra small! Always causes the toothpaste foam to spatter on the bathroom floor..darn
